The American Association of Certified Orthoptists (AACO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, comprised of certified orthoptists who are devoted to improving vision and binocularity for patients with visual system disorders, such as amblyopia, strabismus and nystagmus. Orthoptists evaluate and work with patients of all ages, but because of the nature of many binocular disorders, many patients are children. Our national meeting is attended by board-certified orthoptists from the United States and Canada, as well as ophthalmologists with sub-specialties such as pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and oculoplastics. In addition to our instruction courses and scientific sessions, we have joint symposiums with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Orthoptic Council, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. The AACO National meeting is a collaboration with many ophthalmic and pediatric professionals, aimed at advancing medical knowledge for the betterment of our patients.
